Touring Tips
The wine and shopping town of Metzingen is located centrally in a splendid landscape at the entrance of the Erms valley between vineyards, woods and fruit-tree meadows.

Metzingen is an ideal starting point for hiking in the Erms and Neckar valleys alongside the Albtrauf and on the neighbouring Swabian Alb. The Seven Press Town which is member of the Tourist Union Bad Urach/Ermstal/Vordere Alb offers numerous possibilities for leisure, relaxation and holidays.

Wood sport trail
Ideal for jogging with gym at the “Trimm-Yourself-Stations” or for a lovely little walk in the wood.
Starting points: Parking near the Auchtertfriedhof (Auchtert cemetary) and the Forsthof, Eichbergstraße.
Distance: 3.2 km
Educational wine trail
17 inscribed boards along the 2.7 km long educational wine trail give answers to questions on Metzingen history of wine growing, on the little vineyard houses and on the old Wengert’s sayings.
Starting point: Parking near the vineyard on the road leading to Kohlberg.
Distance: 2.7 km
Dammed lake hiking
Ideal for a walk before or after the afternoon cup of coffee.
Starting point: Parking near the dammed lake in Glems

Gustav-Strömfeld Trail
Geological trail – ideal for fearless hikers who are simultaneously interested in the local rocks. Wonderful route along the Albtrauf.
Starting point: Metzingen presses. The trail leads to the vineyard “Florian” via the Stauferweg, from there to Dettingen “Hörnle” via the Jusiberg, further to the quarry via the Barnberghöhle to the Hohenneuffen along the Alb’s edge.
