The Kelternplatz

Here the viticultural tradition is at home!

Once built as a weather shelter for the wine press trees, wine processing and for storing equipment and supplies - today it is a magnet for visitors.

More and more groups of visitors from all over the world stand admiringly in front of these old walls.

Today the art-historical and listed building ensemble forms the cultural center of the city.

While the two open market wine presses fill the place with life during events, the Kalebskelter hosts a modern library.

Numerous festivals are celebrated in the event wine cellar. Above all the far beyond Metzingens' borders popular Seven Wine Press Festival, which always concludes a successful grape harvest in the third week of October.

On the second weekend of Advent, the Kelternplatz is transformed into a cute Christmas village.

During the Whitsun weekend, the square belongs to numerous artisans who present their works for sale at the traditional artisan market.
